Project Management

Project Management

Administering a building contract can be time consuming and difficult.

Effective project management will assist in obtaining comparable costs for works and maintaining cost control through to completion.

Project management can include specification of works, tendering to obtain competitive prices, monitoring of works on site and valuation of works and variations.  The service can be geared to the employer's specific requirements.

Careful specification of requirements at the outset ensures accurate pricing and comparable tenders or quotations.  If pricing is open to interpretation, contractors’ prices cannot necessarily be directly compared and there is no certainty best value for money will be obtained.

A detailed specification also ensures that the employer's requirements are clearly stated at the outset ensuring less variation during the contract and achievement of an end result meeting clients’ expectations.

Project management includes site inspections during the course of works to ensure the specification requirements are being adhered to and taking records of meetings and inspections to aid communications.

Valuations of works as they proceed ensure the contractor is fairly paid for completed works during the contract. Cost monitoring through the contract period ensures that the final account sum is predicted and does not cause dispute.
